We are looking for new volunteers to join our board of trustees.
If you are interested in these positions please click on the link at the bottom of the description below:
We are seeking to appoint a number of new trustees from a variety of backgrounds who can help in furthering the work of the Charity. Our Board of Trustees volunteer their time to support the ongoing work of the organisation and play a pivotal role in ensuring its success.
In terms of commitment we would ask that you are available to attend Board meetings which take place every 6 weeks (on a Wednesday 5.15 to 6.30pm) and have the time to read over the Board papers in advance of the meetings so that you are able to contribute towards any discussions and make informed decisions. Applicants would need to be over the age of 18 and be able to understand the written information contained within the papers for the Board meetings. Volunteers can attend meetings via MS Teams as well as face to face (blended style meetings).
What could a volunteer gain from the experience?
Volunteers will contribute towards the wellbeing of their local community, being part of a group of people who have similar values, meeting new people, using their skills.
Experience required
There is no single picture of the ideal Board Member, everyone brings different strengths. We are looking for people who are interested in mental health and could also bring skills and experience in: accounting and financial planning; I.T. and digital skills; and organisational policies/procedures.
We are also particularly interested in recruiting someone who has links with the farming and/or fishing industries.
The test of whether or not you will be a good Board Member is simply if you can add value to the organisation or help to stimulate positive new thinking in relation to both our current work and in planning the future direction of the Charity. This could be in different ways: you may have experience of working or volunteering in a similar area of work; you may be aware of issues affecting people who experience mental health difficulties or have studied something relevant to our work; you may have lived experience of mental illness or a mental health condition.
Full training and induction will be provided, as well as the opportunity to meet with another Board Member.
Minimum age: 18
Wheelchair access is limited.
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.

If you use the JustGiving Fundraising button you can raise funds for the Blide without the hassle of working out how to transfer the money to us. You will be able to create a fundraising page (you may have to create an account), tell people what it is you are doing and JustGiving handle the donations!
